THE INCENTIVE TO ACT
Without the biodiverse carbon stores that tropical forests provide, warming would already exceed 1.5°C. However, these ecosystems are at risk from accelerated deforestation driven largely by commercial agriculture. Tropical forest loss is contributing to climate change and reducing our ability to mitigate it.
Investments that create value from standing forest and forest re-growth have high capacity for carbon sequestration, biodiversity benefits and enhanced community livelihoods. 90% of global GDP is now covered by climate commitments and there is mounting pressure to transition to a resilient, sustainable food system.
Regenerative tropical commodities provide us with the opportunity to increase the resilience of supply chains and address the climate and nature crisis at once.
BUILDING MARKETS FOR NATURE POSITIVE COMMODITIES
Regeneration works with corporate buyers, investors, donors, and market access players to build value chains for regenerative tropical commodities which protect standing forest and promote forest growth. Found wild in the forest or within managed agroforestry systems, these include commodities such as cocoa, coffee, and honey.
